As noted before, Karrion Kross was released by WWE in November of 2021 as part of a larger wave of releases at the time. Following his release, Kross went back to his former ring name of Killer Kross in the indies.
Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that WWE officials recently held backstage talks regarding the idea of bringing Kross back to the company within the near future. It was reported that WWE officials currently view Kross as a name of interest to bring back as part of the changes under the company’s new regime. Several people spoken to within the industry stated that they currently outright expect him to return to WWE soon with at least one person stating that they believed WWE already has plans in place for his return.
Following his release, Kross has been working for several promotions, including New Japan Pro Wrestling and Major League Wrestling. Kross reportedly had been originally booked to appear at ROH’s Supercard of Honor 2022 event this past May prior to ROH’s plans being changed following their sale to AEW CEO Tony Khan. Kross also had been recently contacted by AEW for a potential appearance before turning it down due to creative-related issues.
