MJF Reportedly Expected to Make AEW Return Soon
MJF has been absent from AEW since this past June following issues between him and AEW CEO Tony Khan over monetary reasons. MJF was involved in an incident this past May in Las Vegas, Nevada over him no showing an AEW fan fest event and his status for AEW’s Double or Nothing 2022 event to be in doubt at the time.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that AEW officials are currently expecting MJF to make his return somewhat soon. Meltzer reported that the exact timetable for MJF’s return is currently not known but AEW likely want him back as soon as possible to help boost the star power for their shows leading up to the start of their negotiations with Warner Bros Discover for a new television deal later this year.
Meltzer also reported that AEW officials might still have plans for a feud between CM Punk and MJF to take place as part of MJF’s return.
Angelo Parker & Matt Menard Sign AEW Contract Extensions
Jericho Appreciation Society members “Daddy Magic” Matt Menard and “Cool Hands” Angelo Parker reportedly recently signed contract extensions with AEW, according to Fightful Select.
It was reported that no other details regarding the terms or length of their contract extensions are currently known besides the extensions being made a year to the day of them signing official contracts with AEW.
More on WWE Contacting Contracted AEW Talent Over Potential Future WWE Return
As noted before, WWE recently contacted a notable AEW contracted talent over a potential return to the company in the future. This unnamed talent had informed AEW officials of the talks WWE was having with their agent.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that WWE had also recently contacted at least one other AEW contracted talent for similar reasons. This talent reportedly had also informed others that WWE had called him but claimed that he did not answer their phone call.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources confirmed that WWE recently has been contacting former talents who have been signed to other companies to find out about their current contractual obligations and when their contracts expire.
