More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for January 25th

The January 25th episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW gain a small increase in overall viewership and a slight increase in key demographic ratings.

AEW drew 1,003,000 viewers and a 0.32 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 3rd place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s increases this week was due to the gains from their younger male key demographic viewership and older key demographic viewership groups, which were up 14.1% and 5% respectively compared to last week’s show. This reportedly offset the declines from their younger female key demographic viewership, which was down 13.7% compared to last week’s show.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the NBA game of Brooklyn Nets vs. Philadelphia 76ers drew 1,461,000 viewers on ESPN, the College basketball game of Texas A&M vs. Auburn drew 312,000 viewers on ESPN2, the College basketball game of South Carolina vs. Florida drew 198,000 viewers on ESPN2, the NHL game of New York Rangers vs. Toronto Maple Leafs drew 453,000 viewers on TNT, the NHL game of Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Edmonton Oilers drew 181,000 viewers on TNT, Sistas Series drew 1,006,000 viewers on BET, Real Housewives of Salt Lake City drew 701,000 viewers on Bravo, and Challenge: Ride or Dies drew 635,000 viewers on MTV.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 421,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 had 89,000 viewers (up 14.1%), Females 18-34 had 63,000 viewers (down 13.7%), Males 35-49 had 190,000 viewers (up 9.8%), and Females 35-49 had 79,000 viewers (up 1.3%). Meltzer reported that the male/female viewership split was 279,000 male viewers and 142,000 female viewers for a split of 66.3% in favor of males.

In terms of the one million viewership milestone, four of AEW’s eight quarters drew one million or more viewers. AEW’s peak quarter hour viewership was at 1,126,000 viewers for their first quarter while their quarter low was at 943,000 viewers for their sixth quarter.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 8.8% in overall viewership and down 20.6% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was down 8.4% compared to the same week last year.

  • 1Q – 1,126,000 overall viewers and 466,000 key demo viewers (Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara vs. Action Andretti & Ricky Starks match)
  • 2Q – 1,003,000 overall viewers and 441,000 key demo viewers (the Jay Briscoe tribute video segment and the bulk of the TNT Championship match of Buddy Matthews vs. Darby Allin (c))
  • 3Q – 1,032,000 overall viewers and 434,000 key demo viewers (Ending of the TNT Championship match and post-match Samoa Joe promo, the Adam Cole video segment, and the bulk of the HOOK & Jack Perry vs. Ethan Page & Matt Hardy match)
  • 4Q – 962,000 overall viewers and 401,000 key demo viewers (Ending of the HOOK & Perry vs. Page & Hardy match, The Gunns and The Acclaimed therapy segment, and the Hangman Adam Page backstage interview segment)
  • 5Q – 1,002,000 overall viewers and 395,000 key demo viewers (Bryan Danielson vs. Brian Cage match)
  • 6Q – 943,000 overall viewers and 396,000 key demo viewers (Danielson vs. Cage post-match angle with MJF & Konosuke Takeshita, the Danielson backstage promo segment, the Toni Storm promo segment, and the bulk of the Toni Storm vs. Ruby Soho match)

More on AEW Rampage Viewership for January 20th

The January 20th episode of AEW Rampage saw AEW suffer a large drop in overall viewership but gained a large increase in key demographic ratings.

AEW Rampage drew 464,000 viewers and a 0.13 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that week’s show was 16th place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s mixed results that week was due to the large declines from their older key demographic viewership and Over 50 viewership groups, which were down 10% and 7.7% respectively compared to the prior week’s show. This reportedly offset the large gain from their younger key demographic viewership group, which was up 33.3% compared to the prior week’s show.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the NBA game of Memphis Grizzles vs. Los Angeles Lakers drew 1,656,000 viewers on ESPN, the Women’s College basketball game of Villanova vs. Creighton drew 61,000 viewers on FS1, On Patrol Live drew 801,000 viewers on REELZ Channel, Love After Lockup drew 464,000 viewers on WETV, and 90 Day Fiance First Look drew 766,000 viewers on TLC.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 170,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that the male/female viewership split was 124,000 male viewers (up 19.2%) and 46,000 female viewers (down 30.3%) for a split of 72.9% in favor of males. Meltzer also reported that week’s Rampage show did not rank in the Top 10 youngest skewing sports show for the week while that week’s Dynamite was the sixteenth youngest skewed sports show, behind one simulcast NFL Playoffs game, seven NBA games, five soccer games, and one NHL game.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 21.9% in overall viewership and down 46.5% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was down 55.6% compared to the same week last year.

  • 1Q – 473,000 overall viewers and 178,000 key demo viewers (Ethan Page vs. Jungle Boy Jack Perry match)
  • 2Q – 465,000 overall viewers and 172,000 key demo viewers (Ortiz & Eddie Kingston interview segment, the Darby Allin video promo segment, and the start of the Brian Cage vs. Willie Mack match)
  • 3Q – 456,000 overall viewers and 158,000 key demo viewers (Bulk of the Cage vs. Mack match and the Jade Cargill & Leila Grey vs. Jaida & Jordyn Vanity match)
  • 4Q – 461,000 overall viewers and 163,000 key demo viewers (Daniel Garcia vs. Action Andretti match)
