Brock Lesnar reportedly is currently dealing with backstage heat in WWE following this past Saturday’s Royal Rumble 2023 event, according to Fightful Select.
It was reported that their sources stated that Lesnar’s backstage heat revolves around an unplanned spot following his elimination at the hands of Bobby Lashley during the Men’s Royal Rumble match. This spot featured Lesnar going on a rampage at ringside destroying part of the announcer’s table, smashing steel steps at the table, tossing part of the table into the ring, and attacking a WWE referee.
One source spoken to reportedly stated that while WWE officials had expected and planned for Lesnar to perform a “freakout” moment after his elimination since “it’s Brock, so expect anything and everything”, they were very upset when he shoved referee Eddie Orengo over the barricade. WWE officials were concerned over Orengo’s well-being and initially believed he might have suffered a potential foot injury.
It was also reported that WWE originally planned for Orengo to be the referee to raise Cody Rhodes’ hand as the winner of this year’s Men’s Royal Rumble match but had to change those plans following the incident with Lesnar.
It was also reported that WWE officials are currently not expected to punish Lesnar over his actions at the event.
