As noted before, this past Saturday’s Money in the Bank 2023 event in London, England featured Drew McIntyre making his surprise return from injury to WWE. This was McIntyre’s first appearance in WWE since this past April’s WrestleMania 39 event due to injury and creative-related issues.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources stated that McIntyre did not sign a new contract with WWE as part of his return to the company. Johnson reported that McIntyre and WWE officials have still yet to engage in talks for a potential new contract nor does WWE feel the need to due to McIntyre still having a lot of time left on his current contract.
Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that McIntyre was in continuous contact with both WWE CCO Paul “Triple H” Levesque and other WWE officials during his time away from the company. In regards to his surprise return, it was reported that his return was kept very quiet and got suspiciously quiet in the weeks leading up to his appearance at Money in the Bank 2023. McIntyre reportedly was not brought to WWE’s presser for the event and instead spent the time with his loved ones in the United Kingdom while he had the chance.
McIntyre’s contract reportedly is still currently set to expire in early 2024.
