As noted before, Mercedes Mone has been out of action since this past May due to an ankle injury. During her time away, Mone’s contract with New Japan Pro Wrestling and Stardom expired and she has recently resumed talks with AEW for a potential deal.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources stated that Mone is currently expected to make her in-ring return this March. Johnson reported that Mone will not be returning to WWE nor was she ever planned to make an appearance at this past Saturday’s Royal Rumble 2024 event. Mone reportedly spent this past weekend celebrating her birthday in her hometown of Boston, Massachusetts.
Johnson reported that Mone is also currently expected to make a quick visit to Japan but is not expected to wrestle there before making her in-ring return in the United States in a “big way.”
In regards to the next destination for Mone’s career, Johnson reported that those spoken to close to Mone confirmed that she will not be signing with TNA Wrestling. Johnson also reported that while it has yet to be confirmed that Mone will be joining AEW, the current belief is that she has signed or is close to signing a deal with the promotion.
