Rey Mysterio Injury Return Plans Update

As noted before, Rey Mysterio underwent knee surgery this past November for an injury that Mysterio confirmed to be a meniscus tear.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that WWE officials currently expect Mysterio to be able to make an in-ring return in a few weeks.

Mysterio reportedly had been originally hopeful of being medically cleared by late January but he is currently pretty close to being ready to return to the ring.

Edris Enofe & Nikkita Lyons Suffered Injuries

NXT talents Edris Enofe and Nikkita Lyons reportedly recently suffered injuries, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

In regards to Enofe, Meltzer reported that his sources stated that Enofe suffered the injury during a tag team match with Malik Blade against Axiom and Nathan Frazer on the February 6th NXT show. Meltzer reported that Enfoe is currently expected to be out of action for some time.

Enofe confirmed Meltzer’s report of his injury on Twitter stating “Aye how tf yall know about this?? Who snitched? Lmao ima be aight.“

In regards to Lyons, Meltzer reported that Lyons recently suffered another injury. Prior to her injury, Lyons had returned from a torn ACL and meniscus injuries this past December.

No other details were given regarding the nature nor severity of Enofe and Lyons’ injuries.

Drew McIntyre WWE Contract Status Update

As noted before, Drew McIntyre’s contract with WWE is currently expected to expire by this April’s WrestleMania 40 event. McIntyre is currently advertised for WWE live event in Italy this May leading to rumors of McIntyre might have signed a new deal.

Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that WWE officials recently added injury and inactivity time to McIntyre’s contract pushing its current expiration date beyond this April’s WrestleMania 40 event.

Those spoken to close to McIntyre reportedly confirmed that McIntyre and WWE officials have been in talks for a potential new contract and both sides want to get a deal done. It was reported that nothing has been finalized regarding a potential new deal as of Thursday.
