Saturday’s AEW Collision show in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, which was taped this past Wednesday, featured Roderick Strong defeated Dalton Castle in a #1 Contender match for the ROH World Championship. This match was notable for Castle appearing to suffer a potential head-related injury.
Dave Meltzer reported in a recent episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio that his sources confirmed that Castle was legitimately knocked out during his match against Strong. This incident took place following a spot involving Strong hitting a flying knee strike to Castle’s head.
This reportedly was not originally planned to be the match’s finish and was the reason for the apparent production edit done for the match. Meltzer reported that the edit was done in order to help cover for the referee who held up his pin count at two only to then give the third count after he realized Castle was hurt and not moving. Meltzer also reported that Castle was on the ground for several minutes afterwards and this was also edited out of the show’s broadcast.
