As noted before, CM Punk’s current contract with WWE is believed to be for several years in length and was signed following his return to the company in November of 2023.
WrestlePurists’ Ibou reported that his sources stated that CM Punk is currently in the process of getting his existing WWE contract restructured from a monetary and years standpoint. Punk reportedly currently feels that provided everything continues to go well, he never wants to leave WWE and work for another promotion again. Punk reportedly has been telling people that he wants to be with WWE “forever.”
Ibou reported that Punk’s current end goal for his career in WWE is to eventually take over from Shawn Michaels and run the NXT developmental brand once his in-ring wrestling career winds down.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources debunked rumors of Punk had been initially signed to a short term deal for his return to WWE. Those spoken to reportedly confirmed that Punk had signed a three-year deal that would carry him through November of 2026 baring any injury time that might have been added following his torn triceps injury.
Johnson reported that those spoken to also denied the rumors of Punk being the one who is pushing to renegotiate his current deal in order to get a Bret Hart “forever” style deal. Johnson report that WWE were the ones who had approached Punk about working out a new revised deal. Those spoken to within WWE reportedly stated that they are seeking to lock in a “bigger” deal for Punk and it was the company and not Punk who initiated these talks. One source spoken to reportedly stated that the reason why WWE officials want to lock in Punk to a new restructured deal was due to “New world. Huge numbers. Merch and socials.”
Dave Melzter reported in a recent episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio that his sources also confirmed that the rumors of Punk’s contractual status have been overblown and WWE and not Punk were the ones to initiate the talks. Meltzer reported that Punk’s current contract has rollovers in the deal and WWE officials are not in any hurry to sign him to a new deal because it still has plenty of time remaining.
Meltzer reported that both WWE and Punk were aware beforehand that right now would be around the time when they would be having talks to renegotiate his current deal.
