As noted before, Kenny Omega has been out of action for AEW since this past January due to him suffering from diverticulitis and underwent surgery this past May for it. Omega made an in-person return appearance at the May 1st AEW shows in Winnipeg, which was notable for Omega getting physical in the ring during The Elite’s brawl with him.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s special early release Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that Omega is still dealing with some pain but he has been training with moderate intensity for his potential in-ring return.
Meltzer reported that there is no estimated timetable for Omega’s potential in-ring return to AEW due to him still dealing with some weakness in the abdominal area from his surgery. Meltzer reported that while Omega has recently started training, he can’t start taking bumps yet due to this issue with his abdominal area.
Meltzer also reported that Kota Ibushi is still planning to return from his ankles injuries when Omega is able to return.
