As noted before, Miro has been out of action for AEW since this past December due to shoulder and elbow injuries.
Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that Miro recently requested his release from AEW.
In regards to Miro’s injury situation, it was reported that Miro ended up being sidelined longer than AEW officials had originally expected following his match at this past December’s Worlds End event. Miro reportedly had recovered from his injuries a long time ago.
It was reported that AEW officials had originally considered having Miro compete in the Casino Gauntlet match at this past August’s All In 2024 event and a storyline feud with Jon Moxley had been pitched to him earlier this year. Both plans reportedly were dropped due to Miro and AEW officials being unable to get on the same page creatively and something that has become somewhat common for the two sides in recent years. This reportedly was also the same reason for Miro’s absences from AEW programming over the past two years.
It was reported that there has not been any confirmation from their sources if Miro has been granted his release yet nor if WWE has any interest in signing him if he were to become a free agent.
It was also reported that Miro is currently signed to a “seven-figure” contract that is not set to expire until Spring of 2026.
Miro has been with AEW since September of 2020.
