As noted before, AEW and Warner Bros Discovery are currently believed to be close to finalizing a new media rights deal that would be 3-4 years in length and worth in the ballpark of around $170 million per year. WBD’s MAX streaming service is currently expected to be included in the package for AEW’s pay-per-view events but how it will be handled is currently not known.
Andrew Zarian reported in a recent episode of The Mat Men Pro Wrestling podcast that his sources stated that AEW pay-per-view events will be airing on WBD’s MAX service starting in January of 2025. Zarian reported that there is a possibility that AEW PPV events could start airing sooner on MAX but January 2025 is the current planned start date.
Zarian reported that AEW PPV events will not be exclusive to MAX and instead will remain available to purchase on other platforms similar to WWE PLEs currently being available on other PPV providers besides Peacock.
No other details were given regarding the pricing and other aspects of AEW PPVs on MAX.
