Bryan Danielson Comments on Future of His Wrestling Career Being Uncertain Over His Neck Health Status
A recent episode of The Nikki & Brie Show podcast featured Bryan Danielson as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Danielson’s thoughts about the future of his in-ring wresting career following his recent full-time wrestling retirement.
“I was very cautious to not say ‘retirement,’ except for the match where if I lost, I’d retire (At All In vs. Swerve Strickland). But after that, it was all, ‘the end of my full-time wrestling career.’ But honestly, I feel – we don’t know what’s going to happen with my neck – but it honestly feels like I have a bobblehead.”
Following comments by his wife Brie Garcia about wanting to create a celebratory celebratory post after his last match, Danielson responded stating:
“As wrestlers, we’re never fully retired.
I realized this with my last retirement, which was forced. I didn’t want to retire but they weren’t going to let me wrestle again. But what I found is, people are sad for a bit, they are sad for like this much, but then everyone just moves on and it doesn’t matter.”
Danielson also gave his thoughts about him still waking up the middle of nights and think about wrestling things.
“That’s one of the things I haven’t found something for, for that part of my brain, to use that creative part of my brain and coming up with things. I still, it’s been over a month now since my last match, and I still wake up in the middle of the night and think of wrestling things. ‘This is not useful. I wish I would have thought of this a few years ago.’ That’s been the part that’s hard, but I anticipated it.”
