Yahoo Sports’ Uncrowned held a recent interview with AEW CEO Tony Khan. One of the topics discussed included Khan’s thoughts about AEW’s upcoming co-promoted Forbidden Door 2025 event with New Japan Pro Wrestling has already generated one of the biggest live gates for an AEW event in company history.
“Each year Forbidden Door has emanated from an iconic wrestling venue in one of the greatest wrestling cities in the world, and this year will be the biggest one yet. It’s one of the biggest gates in the history of AEW already, and it’s going to be a massive event collaborating with our friends and partners at New Japan Pro Wrestling.”
In a separate recent interview with TMZ Sports, Khan gave his thoughts about how Jim Ross has been an “indispensable part” of AEW and him being hopeful that Ross will be able to work at their All In Texas event this weekend.
“Jim Ross is an indispensable part of AEW. He’s the greatest wrestling commentator of all time. I first heard JR’s voice when I was eight years old, and he immediately hooked me with his commentary. He is a great man. He’s done so much in wrestling. He’s the original voice of AEW.
He’s been through some really tough health battles, and I think it’s important to stand with Jim. Jim’s done a lot for AEW and me personally. It means a lot that I can be there and stand by Jim in a tough time for him. And it’s so great to hear that Jim is doing much better now. We’re all wishing JR the best in his recovery. Everyone in AEW loves JR. He has been a huge part of AEW from the very beginning, and it’s great to have him in AEW now as part of the team.”
In another separate recent interview with The Maggie & Perloff Show podcast, Khan also gave his thoughts about the potential heat issues for fans and talent at AEW’s upcoming All In Texas event and how it won’t be an issue since they would use the retractable roof on the Globe Life Field stadium.
Andrew Perloff – “Tony, I looked at my weather app. It’s not going to be so, so super-hot, but it’s definitely going to be warm, not necessarily for the fans, are going to be sweating a lot here.”
Khan – “There’s a roof!”
