Bryan Danielson Comments on Will Ospreay Match At AEW Dynasty Was When He Knew It Was Time to Step Away From The Ring

Starrcast’s Starrcast Texas event last week featured a panel with Bryan Danielson the guest. One of the topics discussed included Danielson’s thoughts about how his match with Will Ospreay at AEW Dynasty 2024 was when he knew it was time for him to step away from the ring.

“After the Ospreay match (I knew it was time to step away from the ring). My neck has been bad for 10-plus years. I had a neck surgery in 2014. My neck never really came back to where it was before. I was always kind of in a little bit of pain, and then after I wrestled Will — Will is such an incredible athlete, and I am such a stupid man… He can do things that nobody I’ve ever wrestled can do, and because he can do things that nobody I’ve ever wrestled can do, I put myself in a position where I didn’t actually know what I was doing and didn’t ask him what I should do, and so then I landed on my head, and then from there, my neck just got progressively worse. I’d gotten an MRI right after the match with Shingo (Takagi) that was in the Owen Hart Cup last year and the MRI was not great, and yeah, I questioned whether we should even do what we were going to do. It was at that point and then I stopped being able to sleep for more than three or four hours at a time and then it just got to a point where I was just like, ‘Okay, I can’t go on like this…’ I have two relatively young kids and when you talk about, okay, where you put your focus, where you put your attention is the most important thing in your life, right? Am I putting my focus and my attention on these kids who need me and who need to be loved by me?”

MVP Comments on Telling Bobby Lashley to Not Re-Sign with WWE & Join Up with Shelton Benjamin and Go To AEW

The Chicago Sun-Times held a recent interview with MVP. One of the topics discussed included MVP’s thoughts about him telling Bobby Lashley to not sign a new deal with WWE and for them to join up with Shelton Benjamin and go to AEW instead.

“I was sitting next to Bobby in catering and said, ‘We got to get out of here.’ (He told Lashley), ‘Don’t re-sign. Let’s get Shelton and go across the street (to AEW). Our story is not finished.’”

Scorpio Sky Comments on His AEW Return Came Together in a Couple of Weeks & Wondered If He Would Ever Return

As noted before, Scorpio Sky made his surprise return to AEW at the AEW Collision 100th episode earlier this month.

A recent episode of the Creating Character podcast featured co-host Sky giving his thoughts about the process that led to his return to AEW and how he had wondered if he would ever return to the company.

“Everything kind of came together in a couple of weeks. Tony had an idea and I think it was a great idea. We’re going to roll forward with it. One of the things that caught me off guard, slightly….I had a feeling the live reaction would be good. I was surprised at how well it was received online. Sometimes, the internet wrestling community can be very stiff. On [Twitter/X], I’m not on it, but sometimes the AEW audience that is, they’re not always very happy to see me. I don’t know if it’s a lack of trust because we’ve had these videos before where ‘he’s coming back’ and I don’t come back. It helped that we aired it, and then I came back immediately after. There was nothing for you to have to trust. It was there. I did see a few things there and other places, and it seems the reaction has been overwhelmingly positive. That actually caught me off guard.

To be completely honest with you, there was a time where I thought I was never going back to AEW. It just felt like things were heading in that direction. That’s not what I wanted, and fortunately, it’s not what they wanted. We worked it out. I’m really happy to be back.”
