As noted before, TNA Wrestling is currently seeking a new media rights deal for around $10 million per year and there is the potential of Anthem selling off their sports division if TNA continues to not be profitable as a company. TNA has been in recent talks with A&E and The CW for the potential new broadcast homes for the company.
Sports Illustrated’s John Alba reported that his sources stated that TNA officials talks with The CW and A&E has picked up “significant steam” in recent days.
Those spoken to reportedly stated that there have been talks of TNA potentially moving to a WWE-associated network and also being open to moving from their current Thursday nights timeslot to a Wednesday nights timeslot to go head-to-head with AEW Dynamite.
Alba reported that the likely destination for TNA’s new television deal would be The CW due to The CW’s interest in the promotion is legitimate and some WWE stakeholders would like TNA to be part of the network.
Alba also reported that it is currently not known how far along those discussions have progressed and nothing has been officially signed as of yet.
Alba also reported that those spoken to currently believe that WWE has some degree of influence in the TNA media rights discussions with a potential partner involved. Alba also reported that when asked for comments, TNA President Carlos Silva stated that WWE’s relationship with TNA has not extended beyond the current talent exchange and promotion that viewers have seen throughout this year.
