Chris Jericho Provides Update on His AEW Status & His Interest in Future WWE Return
As noted before, Chris Jericho’s contract with AEW is currently set to expire by the end of 2025. Jericho recently reached out to WWE about a potential return to the company once his contract with AEW expires.
The Daily Mail held a recent interview with Jericho. One of the topics discussed included Jericho providing an update on his current status with AEW and his thoughts about him being open to the idea of potentially returning to WWE in the future.
“The best thing that can happen to wrestling is AEW and the fact that there are two huge promotions that you can choose from just makes it better for the guys, makes it better for the fans, and everybody in between. I’m not going anywhere for a long while. I’m still with AEW for right now. Would I go back to WWE? I wouldn’t be opposed to it. We just have to see what happens. The best thing that can happen is to have two great teams that you can play for, and that just makes everything bigger and more exciting.”

AEW Viewership on HBO MAX Update
As noted before, AEW’s viewership for their Dynamite and Collision shows on HBO MAX was believed to be around 500,000 viewers per show during the period of AEW’s launch on the service. Viewership numbers for AEW shows since that early period have not been known.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the exact numbers for AEW’s viewership for their shows on MAX is still currently not known. Meltzer reported that his sources stated that AEW’s viewership has been down from its early high point earlier in the year a few months ago. Those spoken to reportedly stated that AEW’s viewership for their shows has grown during this summer.
Meltzer reported that there has been no information regarding the last few weeks of AEW’s shows on MAX as to whether it has continued to grow to explain AEW’s recent television declines but he speculated that this is not likely the case.
Meltzer reported that of the little information known about AEW’s viewership on MAX is that when AEW’s television ratings are up, their viewership on MAX also usually are up and vice versa. Meltzer reported that the increases and declines on MAX have varying more than on television for AEW.
