Santino Marella Comments on His Belief TNA Will Become Number Two Once They Get New TV Deal
Lucha Libre Online held a recent interview with Santino Marella. One of the topics discussed included Marella’s thoughts about his belief that once TNA Wrestling gets a new television deal, they will become the number two promotion in wrestling.
“The people from TNA in the past are happy for us. Obviously, the current locker room is ecstatic about the growth. When I came here, it was not like this, I know sometimes we were in Nashville or even Toronto, we had 350 or 500 people. But we believed in ourselves. Now we have the audience size that feels right and we deliver every time. Every time we’ve had a sold out crowd, we’ve never not had a good show. We’ve never wasted an opportunity. Bound For Glory is going to be another one, we’re going to capitalize on that audience, we’re going to send the message out to the wrestling world, we’re here. We’re knocking on the door. You better look out because once we get that TV deal, we’re number two man. I know Tony Khan has lots of money, I get it, but the fans speak. The fans dictate who’s number one, number two, number three, not your bank account. Of course WWE is number one, they’re so far ahead that we’ll never catch it in my lifetime. Number two is attainable, number two is something we can really do. If we accomplish that, that’s humongous.”

Finn Balor on Wanting to Wrestle Hiroshi Tanahashi in Match Before He Retires & His Praise of Tanahashi’s Wrestling Career
Tokyo Sports held a recent interview with Finn Balor. One of the topics discussed included Balor’s thoughts about his praise and respect of Hiroshi Tanahashi for the gratitude he showed him during his time in New Japan Pro Wrestling.
“I respect him outside the ring too. When I was a Young Lion and rode the New Japan bus for the first time, he was sitting across from me. I was nervous. I thought it was a dream that my favorite wrestler would become my colleague.”
Balor also gave his thoughts about him wanting to wrestle Tanahashi one more time before Tanahashi retires from his in-ring wrestling career.
“I want to fight him one more time before he retires. That would be great, but I’m not that lucky. But I want to take this opportunity to say a few words to Tanahashi. You’ve had an incredible career. Thank you for being so kind to the foreign wrestlers in New Japan. Mr. Iizuka, Mr. Liger, Mr. Nagata—everyone was so kind. Having teammates like family supporting me helped me adapt quickly to the ring’s harshness. It’s scary to live in a faraway country where you don’t even speak the language, but New Japan welcomed me so warmly. I’m forever grateful.”
