Nigel McGuinnes Confirms He Signed New AEW Contract

A recent episode of The Magic of Wrestling podcast featured ROH legend and AEW commentator Nigel McGuinness as the guest. One of the topics discussed included McGuinness’ thoughts about if he is under two separate contracts with AEW for talent and commentary work and revealed that he had signed a new contract extension with AEW.

“Yeah, my manager and agent sort of handle all that side of things. I just sign along the dotted line. I know we did — we sort of re-upped when it became clear that I was gonna be getting in the ring again, just sort of like an amendment to it. It’s ostensibly the same contract I believe.”

McGuinness also gave his thoughts about if he is interested in a full-time wrestling schedule again and the future of his in-ring wrestling career.

“No. Good Lord, no. No. My full years of wrestling are long, long gone. Good Lord, you could have asked me probably 10 years ago and I would have said the ship has truly sailed when it comes to me even wrestling again. But, I guess, truthfully, without AEW and specifically Tony Khan, I never would have got this opportunity again so, I don’t think there’s any benefit to me wrestling a full-time schedule. The sort of part-time schedule that I’m currently on, you know, if an opportunity presents itself and it makes sense from a storyline perspective then I’ll do it, I love doing it. But, yeah, not full-time. There’s too many guys on the roster anyway, younger guys, who deserve more of those spots than me but if I can add a little bit of flavor, a little bit of spice to what else is going on with my experience and the fact that they see me on TV every week as a commentator then I think that’s the best asset, best way they can use me.”

Athena Comments on Potential Future AEW All-Women’s Show & AEW Having Best Women’s Roster in the World

WFAA 8 held a recent interview with Athena. One of the topics discussed included Athena’s thoughts about the potential of AEW holding an all-women’s show in the future and her belief that AEW currently has the best Women’s division in the world.

“I know TK has absolutely thought about that. I think it’s just about timing when it comes to those things. And he’s been very open about it. We have the best roster in the world. I know everyone says it, but we actually do have the best roster in the world. We have Mercedes Mone, Toni Storm, myself — the Minion Overlord and Forever ROH Champion.

But we have a very stacked roster and we have a lot of eager women. I like to say Ring of Honor is the girl show, because we have women’s wrestling across the board. From Leila Grey to Billy Starkz to that hussy Sareee who showed up out of nowhere when I was on vacation. Don’t know what’s up with that, don’t want to know. We have Alex Windsor. We have a beautiful platform where we get to see these women grow on Ring of Honor and then see them progress through AEW.

So, yes, absolutely. I know it’s something that TK has in mind, especially with the tag team tournament. I just think we have to have baby steps and establish people more to get there. But, yes, I do know that that is on his brain, and it has been on his brain since I have been in AEW. So I know it’s just about timing.”

Willow Nightingale & Harley Cameron Reveal Their Tag Team Name

AEW recently released a new digital exclusive backstage video featuring Harley Cameron and Willow Nightingale discussing what should be their official tag team name for the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship tournament. At the end of the video, Cameron and Nightingale come to an agreement that their team name should be “Babes of Wrath.”

Willow Nightingale – “Anyone else is our position, they would be down. They would be sad. We didn’t pick up the win but we’re still in this tournament and you’ve gotta be in it to win it.”

Harley Cameron – “You know what, we’re going to need a name.”

Nightingale – “Maybe something that’s like both of us together? That represents both of us?”

Cameron – “Ooh, I know, I know. They call you the babe with the power bomb.”

Nightingale – “You, you feel the wrath.”

Cameron – “Why don’t we combine these together? I’ve got it. Feel The Babes … Feel The Bombs.

Nightingale – “Uhm, maybe not in this political climate. I don’t think that’s really great. Harley, you know, you’re also a babe. We can be like babes.”

Cameron – “I’m glad you said that because I will say, I think that you have a lot of wrath within you. Willow, are you thinking what I’m thinking?”

Nightingale – “I think so. Babes…Of…Wrath.”

Cameron – “Babes…Of… Sandwich Eating … Babes of wrath.”

Nightingale – “I don’t know where the sandwich came from.”
