John Cena To Select Men’s & Women’s Iron Survivor Competitors
Tuesday’s WWE NXT Gold Rush Week 1 show at The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York featured NXT GM Ava announcing one change for the selection of the competitors for the Men’s and Women’s Iron Survivor matches.
Unlike past years, Ava stated that only one WWE legend will be personally selecting the competitors for this year’s matches and that person will be John Cena. Ava also stated that Cena will be making an appearance at next week’s NXT Gold Rush Week 2 show to announce his selections.
Oba Femi vs. Ricky Saints for NXT Title Set for NXT Deadline 2025
Tuesday’s WWE NXT Gold Rush Week 1 show also featured one new match set for the card of NXT Deadline 2025, which takes place on December 6th at the Boeing Center at Tech Port in San Antonio, Texas.
This new match setup was a NXT Championship match of Oba Femi vs. Ricky Saints (c).
This new match was setup following an in-ring promo segment involving Femi and Saints. During the show, NXT Champion Saints came out to the ring but before he could say anything, Femi’s music played to interrupt and he came out to also make his way to the ring. Saints talked about how he knew sooner or later Oba would show up. Saints continued talking about when he beat Oba at NXT No Mercy to win the title and how it wasn’t a shock to him because he is Ricky Saints. After some more words boasting about himself and insulting Oba for being absent, Saints stated that he is glad Oba is back but don’t get it twisted into thinking that you are going to take the title from him.
Femi responded back praising Saints for having the same bravado, the same arrogance, and the same little mind as the last time he was around. After some more words, Femi stated that Saints had your time in the sun and the sun is setting on the Absolute Era. Femi continued stating that he will destroy you and that his daddy is home.
Saints responded back stating that if Femi wants a rematch at Deadline, he’s got it. Saints and Femi then had a staredown as Saints held up his NXT title.
This led to Trick Williams’ music playing and him coming out to the rampway. Trick stated that Ricky Saints that he cannot hear that good and for the last couple months, he said it ain’t over until he wins back his title. This led to Myles Borne running out and laid out Williams from behind with a chair shot. Borne then picked up Williams’ microphone and claimed that he would be winning the Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge match and he will see one of you at New Year’s Evil.

Shiloh Hill Vignette Airs
Tuesday’s WWE NXT Gold Rush Week 1 show also featured a video airing involving WWE LFG Season Two winner Shiloh Hill introducing himself and telling his twisted backstory growing up leading to him joining WWE.
The Culling Turns on Tatum Paxley, Jacy Jayne Wins NXT Women’s Title
Tuesday’s WWE NXT Gold Rush Week 1 show also featured The Culling (Izzi Dame, Shawn Spears, & Nico Vance) turning on Tatum Paxley and costing her NXT Women’s Championship.
During the NXT Women’s Championship match between Jacy Jayne and Tatum Paxley, Paxley refused multiple times to cheat after Dame had tossed a chair and afterwards the NXT Women’s title in the ring. Near the end of the match, Paxley was sent on the outside and tried to get back into the ring only to be stopped by Spears and Vance. This led to Dame hitting a big boot to Paxley laying her out and tossed her back into the ring while the referee was distracted. This led to Jayne hitting a Rolling Encore to Paxley for the pinfall victory to become the new NXT Women’s Champion.
Following the match, Fatal Influence’s Fallon Henley & Lainey Reid celebrated with Jayne on the outside as The Culling went into the ring and stood over a fallen Paxley as the show went to a close.
This was the second time Jayne won the NXT Women’s Championship in her WWE NXT career.
