Update:
WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair provided an update earlier today on Twitter clarifying his comments about his claim that Hulk Hogan’s death was caused by “street drugs.”
Flair stated that he was only repeating what he had heard from Hogan’s family members regarding his passing.
“There Seems To Be Some Controversy Over My Remarks That Street Drugs Killed Hulk Hogan. I Only Was Repeating What I Know To Be A Fact Through Family Members. After 11 Back Surgeries, Hip Replacements, Knee Replacements, Shoulder Replacement, And Two Neck Surgeries, I Am Sure The Pain Was Unbearable.
A Doctor As I Know Can Only Prescribe So Much Pain Medication Under Medical Guidelines. I’ve Been Told That All They Did Was To Help Him Not To Hurt Him. To Help Him Get Through The Night And The Pain. Eventually That Catches Up With You As We Know With Everybody.
He Was My Friend, A Man I Respected, And I’m Only Reporting What I’ve Been Told. Nothing More, Nothing Less. This Was Not An Attempt To Demean Hulk Hogan Or His Legacy. I Have Always Referred To Him As Being One Of The Two Biggest Stars In The Industry, Himself And Steve Austin. I Apologize If People Misunderstood My Statement. Hulkamania Forever!”

As noted before, WWE Hall of Famer and wrestling legend Hulk Hogan, real name Terry Bollea, passed away this past July due to a heart attack. Hogan’s family is currently planning to file a lawsuit against at least one of Hogan’s doctors over claims of medical malpractice leading to his death. Hogan’s death is believed to have been caused by issues related to a surgery that resulted in his phrenic nerve being severed.
A recent episode of the Double Coverage podcast featured WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Flair’s thoughts about his belief that Hogan’s death was caused by “street drugs” after his doctors would not prescribe him anymore medication.
“I talked to him the day before he died. I shouldn’t say this, but what killed him was street drugs.
When the doctor wouldn’t prescribe him anymore, he was in so much pain. He had that neck surgery that got infected, so back in the hospital. Imagine ten back surgeries, two knees, two hips, and then when the doctor wouldn’t prescribe him any more pain medicine, he just couldn’t do it in good conscience. So, they went and got the drugs off the street. His body just said, You know what, I can’t do it anymore.
Sad. What a great guy.”
Flair also claimed that more information about the circumstances surrounding Hogan’s death will become public in the next 30 days.
“These guys just, I don’t want to mention names, just renamed him. This is all going to come out in the media in the next thirty days; you’ll read about it anyway. I just don’t feel free to talk about it.”
