As noted before, CMLL talent Persephone recently signed a dual contract with AEW and CMLL.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE has been interested in Persephone since her match against Mercedes Mone, Bozilla, and Alex Windsor for the TBS Championship at this past August’s AEW x NJPW’s Forbidden Door 2025 event.
The Wrestling Observer’s Bryan Alvarez reported that his sources provided some clarification about Persephone’s contract situation stating that Persephone did not pick AEW over WWE due to WWE never actually gave her an offer.
Alvarez reported that Persephone has been under a CMLL contract and legally would not have been able to talk with WWE at all for a potential new contract with them.
Alvarez reported that Persephone simply took the opportunity to add an AEW contract to her current one with CMLL similar to other CMLL talents recently.
