Seth Rollins Comments on Why He Hates WWE Ladder & Royal Rumble Matches
A recent episode of Barstool Sports’ My Mom’s Basement with Robbie Fox podcast featured Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch as the guests. One of the topics discussed included Rollins’ thoughts about why he hates performing in certain specialty matches like Money in the Bank, Royal Rumbles, and ladder matches in WWE.
“It stems from me being a control freak, that’s where it stems from. And the more moving parts, is the less I can control. Because I can only do so much. I have a vision. I see how it should be. And when things don’t go how I see them happening or how I feel that they should be going, I get so frustrated. And so, like, ladder matches like that where there’s moving parts and you just can’t control how things are going to happen. Random ladders breaking. There’s a whole bunch else going on. [The ladders] are never in the right spot.”
Rollins also gave his thoughts about his love of Six-Man Tag Team matches during his time with The Shield in WWE.
“I was actually spoiled by The Shield six-mans. Because, I mean, Jon [Moxley] and Roman [Reigns] and I were all on the same page. Like, pretty much quickly. Once we were all rocking and rolling, it was smooth like butter. So you go back and look at some of those, the effortlessness with which we had those trios matches was really something. Especially for the time. You know, that style wasn’t cooking in WWE in 2012 or whatever it was. We kind of innovated a different — it wasn’t like six-mans were a new thing, but the way we were doing them as a three-man unit, you didn’t see that in WWE. We were fortunate to be on the other side of some pretty incredible talents. But even when we weren’t, we were able to feed off of each other. So I’d say I was spoiled because we were all just — it was a well-oiled machine.”
Rollins also gave his thoughts about his Hell in a Cell match against “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt at WWE Hell in a Cell 2019 being his choice for if there were cameras present backstage for one moment of his wrestling career.
“I wish they were there for the Hell in a Cell match with Bray Wyatt. I wish they were there for that whole week so they could really see what went down. That’s one of those where I have such terrible….there is such a terrible connotation to that experience from an outside standpoint. I just go, ‘No one really knows what happened there.’ I can’t describe it to a point that would make sense where people would have a different feeling about it. If you could have seen that from start to finish, that week, all the way up to the end of that match, and the next day, I think people would have, I don’t know about appreciation, but a little more empathy, maybe.”

Backstage Reaction to Natalya’s Heel Turn on Maxxine Dupri on Jan. 19th WWE RAW Show
As noted before, this past Monday’s WWE RAW show in Belfast, Northern Ireland featured Natalya turning heel on Maxxine Durpri and helping Becky Lynch retain the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources within WWE stated that they were happy Natalya got a heel turn and a new storyline on RAW. Johnson reported that the general feeling from those spoken to was that Natalya has more than deserved a chance to utilize her “Nattie Neidhart” character she has been using outside of WWE, including in Lucha Libre AAA and Game Changer Wrestling’s Bloodsport appearances.
Those spoken to reportedly stated that they are currently hopeful that Natalya’s new direction clicks with fans and she gets a more prominent role in the company. Others spoken to reportedly stated that Natalya and her husband and WWE producer TJ Wilson, former Tyson Kidd, offer others the chance to train at their Dungeon 2.0 school in Tampa, Florida and have never asked for any money from those who train there.
