As noted before, WWE recently held internal discussions regarding the status of their upcoming events later this year and next year’s WrestleMania 43 event in Saudi Arabia. At least one of WWE’s upcoming events this year in Saudi Arabia is currently expected to be in doubt due to the on-going conflicts and war between the United States/Israel and Iran in the Middle East.
Post Wrestling and Wrestlenomics’ Brandon Thurston reported that his sources stated that WWE officials had penciled in for this year’s Night of Champions event to take place on June 27th in Saudi Arabia. Thurston reported that those spoken to stated that this date is now in doubt due to the on-going military conflict in the region involving Iran.
Thurston reported that WWE and Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority officials did not respond to questions from Post Wrestling about if they considering rescheduling or canceling the upcoming event due to the on-going war issues in the Middle East.
One source spoken to reportedly stated that WWE had scheduled for this year’s Night of Champions event to take place in Riyadh.
Thurston reported that those spoken to stated that TKO had sent a company-wide internal message to all of their staff on March 4th reiterating guidance from the U.S. State Department advising Americans to leave the regions throughout most of the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia.
