Update on Planned Matches for WWE WrestleMania 42

WWE currently has five matches announced for the card of this April’s WrestleMania 42 event at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.

These matches are an Undisputed WWE Championship match of Randy Orton vs. Cody Rhodes (c), WWE World Heavyweight Championship match of Roman Reigns vs. CM Punk (c), WWE Women’s Championship match of Rhea Ripley vs. Jade Cargill (c), WWE Women’s World Championship match of Liv Morgan vs. Stephanie Vaquer, and a singles match of Brock Lesnar vs. Oba Femi.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that WWE officials currently have plans for two additional matches scheduled to take place at WrestleMania 42.

The first new match scheduled is a WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship match of Becky Lynch vs. AJ Lee (c).

The second new match scheduled is a singles match of Drew McIntyre vs. Jacob Fatu.

Meltzer speculated that WWE officials also currently have plans for a match involving Seth Rollins facing off against either Logan Paul or Bron Breakker depending on if Breakker can be medically cleared in time or not for the event.

Meltzer also reported that a multi-team WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship match appears to also be planned for the event. This match is expected to feature The Irresitble Forces (Nia Jax & Lash Legend) defending their titles against Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss, Bayley & Lyra Valkyria, Kabuki Warriors (Asuka & Kairi Sane), and The Bella Twins (Nikki & Brie Bella).

Meltzer also reported that a multi-team WWE Tag Team Championship match could also be in the works for WrestleMania 42.

In regards to Gunther, Meltzer reported that Gunther does not seem to have any kind of program and those spoken to did not confirm nor deny if a match against Rey Mysterio had been planned prior to Mysterio suffering a rib injury.

Meltzer speculated that a Mask vs. Mask match between El Grande Americano and Original El Grande Americano could take place at WrestleMania 42 or at a later event.

Other matches that appear to be taking place at WrestleMania 42 reportedly includes a WWE United States Championship match of Ilja Dragunov vs. Carmelo Hayes (c), a WWE Women’s United States Championship match of Tiffany Stratton vs. Giulia, and a singles match of Trick Williams vs. Sami Zayn.

In regards to Jelly Roll, Meltzer reported that there seems to be the possibilty of something involving Jelly Roll but it has yet to be confirmed what his involvement would be for the event.

Meltzer also reported that WrestleMania 42 is currently expected to feature 14 to 16 total matches over the two nights.
