As noted before, AEW World Champion MJF was recently pulled from Beyond Wrestling’s Break The Walls Down event on Friday in Cranston, Rhode Island due to him suffering a hyperextended knee injury during his match against RUSH at this past Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite show in Richmond, Virginia. MJF’s injury situation is currently not expected to cause him to miss this month’s AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2026 event.
Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp reported that while many people had speculated that MJF suffered a knee injury following the Tombstone spot on the barricade, his sources stated that the injury actually happened on a RUSH knee spot in the corner.
Those spoken to reportedly stated that MJF’s injury was just a freak accident and there is no backstage heat on RUSH whatsoever over it.
In regards to MJF’s injury status, Sapp reported that MJF is currently expected to continue appearing on AEW programming while AEW officials closely monitors his injury ahead of this month’s Forbidden Door 2026 event.
