As noted before, former WWE employee Janel Grant filed a lawsuit in January of 2024 against former WWE/TKO Executive Chairman Vince McMahon accusing McMahon of committing sex trafficking and sexual abuse towards her during her time in the company. Grant filed a new amended lawsuit this past February detailing new evidence and claims against McMahon, WWE, and others. Grant had also a filed petition against a WWE Wellness doctor named Carlon Colker and his clinic in July of 2024 for medical records related to her lawsuit, which was court ordered to be released this past August. Grant had filed a memorandum this past April containing additional details in her allegations against McMahon, WWE President Nick Khan, former WWE Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis, Brock Lesnar, and WWE itself.
Fightful’s Jeremy Lambert reported that McMahon, Grant, and WWE filed a joint motion on Thursday requesting for the lawsuit to be moved out of the public and into private arbitration instead.
The motion also asked the court to cancel a scheduled hearing for June 16 so that they can focus on “progressing the potential arbitration agreement.”
Motion filing:
“PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the parties respectfully submit this joint motion for a short adjournment of the upcoming hearing on Defendants’ Motions to Compel Arbitration and Plaintiff’s Renewed Motion for Leave to Serve Motion-Related Discovery, which is currently scheduled for June 16, 2026.
The parties are in active discussions regarding a potential agreement to arbitrate the dispute in confidential arbitration that would moot those motions. They seek this relief in good faith, to avoid unnecessarily consuming the Court’s and the parties’ resources—and so they can focus on progressing the potential arbitration agreement. The Parties respectfully propose that the Court temporarily adjourn the hearing and allow them to file a Joint Status Report within 21 days.”
Judge Sarah F. Russell is currently expected to make a ruling on the motion and if granted, it would mean details of the arbitration proceedings would likely not become public.
