Backstage Update on Tessa Blanchard’s TNA Departure & Decision To Work for CMLL Over TNA

As noted before, Tessa Blanchard departed from TNA Wrestling earlier this week after being granted her release. Blanchard revealed in a recent episode of the CMLL Informa show that TNA had asked her to decide on if she wanted to continue working for them or CMLL and not both. Blanchard’s decision was believed to be influenced by CMLL paying her better and booking her more for shows.

Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that prior to her departure, Blanchard had been about halfway through a three-year deal with TNA. It was reported that despite her departure, Blanchard is still not a free agent yet.

Those spoken to within TNA reportedly claimed that the company was going to rework her deal to offer her more money due to CMLL booking her and paying her more. Those spoken to reportedly also stated that there is no bad blood between the two parties with TNA officials understanding that Blanchard made a business decision. Those spoken to reportedly also stated that Blanchard had missed some CMLL dates due to her TNA obligations at the time.

In regards Blanchard’s decision to pick CMLL over TNA, it was reported that there was a conflict between Blanchard and individuals who wanted her to prioritize TNA over CMLL. It was also reported that many within TNA were surprised Blanchard was able to continue working in CMLL for as long as she did but CMLL provided Blanchard with better options including booking and paying her more.

Blanchard reportedly preferred how she was being used creatively in CMLL over TNA. Those spoken to within CMLL reportedly stated that the company is getting particular about their talent including wrestlers not under contract who are promoting “competing brands.”
