As noted before, TNA Head of Talent Relations and booker Tommy Dreamer departed from TNA Wrestling this past June as part of a larger workplace reductions taking place within the company. TNA held recent talks with former WWE SmackDown co-lead writer and WWE Hall of Famer Brian “Road Dogg” James to be Tommy Dreamer’s potential replacement in their creative team.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources confirmed that James is still expected to be joining TNA soon despite him not signing an official contract yet.
Meltzer reported that those spoken to confirmed that James was in attendance backstage at this past June’s Slammiversary 2026 event in Boston, Massachusetts.
James reportedly did some match agenting at the show but was not involved in any actual creative plans which were stated to have been a mostly Tommy Dreamer and Hunter “Delirious” Johnston show even with no Dreamer there.
Meltzer also reported that those spoken to confirmed that James was not in attendance at this week’s TNA Impact! tapings in Albany, New York.
