As noted before, Santos Escobar was released by WWE this past April as part of a larger batch of talent releases and departures. Escobar’s no-compete clause with WWE officially expired on Thursday, July 23.
Escobar, real name Jorge Bolly, released a video earlier today on Twitter featuring him holding a funeral for his Santos Escobar persona and revealed his new ring name of “Romeo Malverde” for his post-WWE wrestling career going forward.
“Renovation through expiration. Hasta siempre emperador Santos. BIENVENIDO ROMEO MALVERDE”
