As noted before, Rebel, real name Tanea Brooks, was diagnosed with terminal ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) this past May. AEW released special “Rebel Heart” merchandise with 100% of the profits going to support those affected by ALS. Rebel announced this past June that she has become an ambassador for the I AM ALS organization. In recent weeks, several AEW talents and personalities have been participating an challenging their co-workers to participate in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge in support of Rebel with the most recent being Sting.
WDRB News held a recent interview with Rebel. One of the topics discussed included Rebel’s thoughts about the support she has received from everyone after her terminal ALS diagnosis.
“The greatest thing ALS has given me is to be able to see how much people care and love and support me before I am gone.”
Rebel also gave her thoughts about what it feels like to have ALS.
“My whole body is becoming paralyzed, but I feel everything.”
Rebel also gave her thoughts about the importance of raising awareness for the ALS disease.
“If we don’t have awareness, we can’t get funds. If we can’t get funds, then we can’t get research. If we can’t get research, we can’t get a cure.”
