WWE announced earlier today that they will be holding a new tournament to determine the official challenger for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match at the September 14th WWE RAW show at the Arena CDMX in Mexico City, Mexico.
It was announced that this upcoming new tournament will be featuring the best luchadors from WWE RAW, SmackDown, and Lucha Libre AAA.
The winner of this tournament will challenge Reigns for his WWE World Heavyweight Championship at next month’s WWE RAW show in Mexico City.
It was also announced that this upcoming tournament will officially start at next week’s WWE RAW show on August 10 in Norfolk, Virginia.
No competitors were announced as part of the announcement.

This past Monday’s WWE RAW show in Des Moines, Iowa featured a show closing segment involving AAA GM Rey Mysterio having a brief chat with Reigns asking him if he knew he was the GM of AAA and had something important he wanted to talk to him about before they both left together.
