A recent episode of the What Happened When with Tony Schiavone podcast featured The Gunns (Austin & Colten Gunn) as the guests. One of the topics discussed included Austin’s thoughts about WWE Hall of Famer Road Dogg’s recent comments claiming that both the AEW World Tag Team Championship and every other team in the tag division was beneath the Gunns.
“I’ll say, I was happy to see that he believes in our work. I don’t know if it should’ve escalated into what it escalated into, but I don’t like that we were wrapped into it. ‘Hey, what’s everybody talking about?’ ‘YOU THINK YOU’RE ABOVE!’ ‘Whoa.’ I didn’t say nothing. We’re just over here trying to go to practice, get haircuts, and make sure our gear is really nice. Then we catch strays out of nowhere.”
The Gunns also gave their thoughts about the process that led to them getting to use “Many Men” by 50 Cents to be their entrance song for their AEW World Tag Team Championship match against FTR at the April 5, 2023 episode of AEW Dynamite.
Colten Gunn – “We were on the way to the gym and were listening to old 50 Cent. We were like, ‘What if we could come out to this song?’ ‘Why can’t we?’ We asked, pushed for it, and we somehow got it about 30 minutes before we went live.”
Austin Gunn – “That was a hill we were willing to die one. We were like, ‘We don’t want anything. I promise we’ll never ask for anything else. Just please get us this entrance.’ We were in New York, people hated us at the time. We just thought it would be such a cool me and Colten moment because everyone else hated us in that arena, but me and Colten were like, ‘This is our thing. We think it’s cool.’ When the lights go down and they realize what song it is, I’ve never seen so many people flip me off and sing the song at the same time. They love the song and were almost jealous that we had it. It’s so cool flexing.”
Colten also gave his thoughts about his torn patella injury in July of 2025 and how he was able to get medically cleared sooner than was originally expected.
“I tore my patella, just from a regular routine jump. It was supposed to be nine months to a year before I could practice in the ring, but I went to physical therapy four times a week and stayed at it. Had my diet locked in, had my physical therapy, and I was back practicing at five and six months, and got cleared in seven months. Now, I’m back. It feels pretty good. A little nervous at first, but got through it,”
