Kevin Knight on What Lesson Katsuyori Shibata Drilled Into Him The Most In LA Dojo, His Choice For A One-Night Only Entrance Song, & His Wrestling Style Being A Combination Of Mr. Perfect, The Rock, And Jeff Hardy

A recent episode of the Battleground Podcast featured “The Jet” Kevin Knight as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Knight’s thoughts about one lesson that Katsuyori Shibata drilled into him during his training for a wrestling career at NJPW’s LA Dojo.

“I would say patience. He would always say be patient, whether that’s in the ring or out the ring, and I always think about that because I came from a football world where you got to do everything fast, fast, fast, fast, you know? So being able to be patient and slow everything down was so foreign to me. I always tell myself that I don’t have to move at a thousand miles per hour. I can slow myself down whether I’m talking, wrestling, whatever it is, and yeah, just having that patience has gotten me to where I’m at and it’s paid dividends.”

Knight also gave his thoughts about what would be his choice for a song he would like to use for one night only for an entrance if given the chance.

“Oh, I got to go with the ATL classic, Scottie by D4L. Like that song going to turn me up every single time. I’ve thought about that for a long time. I got my own idea for a remix. If I could ever get in contact with D4L, let’s cook something up, Tony. Let’s do this. We could make some magic. We can make some magic.”

In a separate recent interview with NBC’s 11Alive News, Knight also gave his thoughts about how his wrestling style is a combination of Mr. Perfect, The Rock, Jeff Hardy, and other sports athletes.

“I would say it’s a combination of so many different things. Sure, if you’re familiar with the old school, like a Mr. Perfect, The Rock, Jeff Hardy. I like to, you know, intertwine some Deion Sanders in there. I like to throw some Cam Newton in there for the promos. Like, it’s a lot of different things I like to throw in there. But at the end of the day, the jet is the flyest of all time. So every time you see me on the screen, just know that you’re going to see something you’ve never seen before.”
