We get a shot of Corpus Christi followed by a look at key players for tonight’s lineup as they arrive to (or are already at) the arena.

Big focus on the MITB Qualifying Matches tonight, before we go to a video package looking back at the Undisputed WWE Championship match last week on SmackDown. We see highlights of the bout, leading to Sami Zayn beating CM Punk to win the title for the second time in his career.

We head to the Hilliard Center for a shot of the crowd before going to the ring, where SmackDown GM Nick Aldis is standing by. He says that sometimes in his job you have to deal with people that rub you the wrong way, but you just have to get through it and smile. With that, he introduces us to the new Undisputed WWE Champion, Sami Zayn. The new champion makes his way out to a mixed reaction leaning toward boos, which get louder when he enters the ring and holds the title up.

Zayn is not thrilled about the booing as he asks Aldis if he finds that funny. He talks about the introduction Nick gave him, but says “Undisputed WWE Champion Sami Zayn” sure feels good coming out of his own mouth. He is surprised at the reaction he’s getting from Corpus Christi, but it’s okay because “Justice for Sami” isn’t just about him, it’s about all the fans…even the ones booing him right now. Justice has finally been served, and this is what it looks like (raising the title up once again).

The booing is mixed in with CM Punk chants as Sami goes on to talk about equality, which means when you have all these other top talents knocking at Nick’s door looking for a title, Sami expects Aldis to treat them the same way he treated Zayn. He expects equality.

Out comes Johnny Gargano, alongside Candice LeRae. Johnny has a mic as he addresses the deal he made with Zayn about getting the first shot at the title after Sami won…but Zayn claims they never made a deal. He said he would take care of Johnny, and Gargano takes this to mean that the two of them should face off for the title here tonight. Aldis cuts in, saying Sami may be the champ but he doesn’t make the title matches. Nick does. Sami agrees, saying this is what he was trying to tell Gargano, that he has to deal with Aldis.

The GM addresses that Johnny got a title shot two weeks ago in his hometown, saying the man he considers next in line is not here tonight…and that is CM Punk. Out comes Kevin Owens, who indirectly helped Sami win last week by hitting Punk with the title. Owens talks himself up as a future contender, only for LeRae to interrupt saying that Gargano is next…but Kevin responds to that by hitting Gargano with a stunner!

Owens starts to speak again but Aldis interrupts, saying he doesn’t reward bad behavior as he addresses what Owens did last week. Kevin points out the issues he’s had earning a title shot because of Zayn, and looks back to when Sami cost him his title shot in Toronto. Nick starts to think this over when Sami grabs him by the blazer, asking if he’s gonna try to mess with him again like when he threw Punk at him last second.

Aldis tells him to get his hands off the GM, before revealing that Zayn will defend the Undisputed WWE Championship tonight…against Kevin Owens! Before he leaves, Nick tells Zayn that considering his first run as champ lasted nine days, let’s see if we can get past seven. Sami starts to follow Nick up the ramp to protest the decision, when Randy Orton makes his way out. We get a brief confrontation between Orton and Zayn before Randy heads to the ring. Up next we see Orton in action in a MITB Qualifying Match!

We take a look back at the recent live event tour culminating in Raw from Mexico City on Monday night, and some hype for tonight’s main event before heading back to ringside.

Men’s Money in the Bank Qualifier Triple Threat Match
Randy Orton vs. Rey Fenix vs. Trick Williams

Rey Fenix has entered the ring and out comes Trick Williams as we take a look at Baron Corbin attacking Lil Yachty last week on SmackDown. With all three men in the ring we get this MITB Qualifying Match underway!

Fenix gets blindsided by Orton at the start, allowing the Viper to go after Williams. He gets taken to the mat as Fenix fights back, only to be sent to the corner by Randy. Fenix with some strikes before sending Orton into the corner, and he sends Trick to the outside before landing a dive. He brings the United States Champion back into the ring for a moonsault, but only gets a nearfall.

Fenix hits the ropes but gets dropped with a flapjack by Trick, who lands a hard slap to the face of the AAA Cruiserweight Champion before stomping away at him in the corner to “Whoop that Trick” chants. Fenix is back up but gets sent to the outside by Trick, before Orton hoists him up onto the announce table…and catches Trick with the same! Yachty walks over to confront Orton, and takes a thumb to the eye and a back drop to the table as we go to break.

Orton is still in control as he takes Williams to the mat, and then to the corner. He props the US Champion up on the turnbuckle before Fenix tries to intervene, only to be knocked off the apron by the Viper. Orton looks for a superplex but Fenix comes back up for a sunset powerbomb sending both opponents to the canvas. He covers Orton but it’s only good for a two count!

Orton manages to fire back now, dropping Fenix with a power slam before sending Trick down with the same. Orton gets Williams propped up on the second rope for a DDT…but takes a Goodbye Amigo from Fenix! Fenix goes up top but is knocked down by Williams, who goes into the ring to land a cyclone boot on Orton for a nearfall. Trick back to his feet, but he takes a hurricanrana by Fenix who gets a two. Superkick lays out the US Champion, and Fenix goes up top for a frog splash…but takes an RKO by Orton! Orton gets caught with a Trick Shot and Williams pins Fenix for the win.

Winner: Trick Williams via Pinfall.

We get a replay of the finish as Trick celebrates the win. We’re remidned that he joins Bron Breakker and Je’Von Evans in the Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match

Backstage: Candice LeRae, Johnny Gargano, Sami Zayn

Candice talks to Johnny about what happened when Sami steps in, angry about the match tonight before talking about what they said about Gargano. He talks about how much he needs to keep this title, bringing up that if he loses the title there might not be another shot for Johnny. Gargano says he can see where Sami is coming from, and Zayn says we should talk later.

Backstage: The MFTs, Haku, Bakusai

Elsewhere, we hear from the MFTs as Tama Tonga addresses not needing Shinsuke Nakamura and what he looks to do to Kyoki. We also hear from Bakusai as they address facing MFTs later tonight. But enough of all that, let’s take a look at the upcoming film Heart of the Beast.

Backstage: Tatum Paxley, Alexa Bliss, Charlotte Flair

Backstage, Alexa Bliss talks to Charlotte Flair and Tatum Paxley about the upcoming MITB Qualifying Match as Tatum presents candles for luck and prosperity. Bliss walks off to get ready for her match as Flair accidentally blows out a candle of bad luck, and SmackDown rolls on.

Bakusai (Shinsuke Nakamura & Kyoki) vs. The MFTs (Tama Tonga & Talla Tonga)

Back at ringside, Bakusai makes their entrance as I think about the fact I get to watch four guys I saw in New Japan at different stages face off in a WWE ring. The MFTs come out alongside Haku, and the champs get into the ring as this non-title match gets underway!

We start off with Tama and Kyoki, who quickly goes after Talla on the apron with a laugh. He’s sent back and Tama goes to work on him, but Kyoki breaks free to send Talla off the apron. Tama leaves the ring to go after Kyoki, who sends both MFTs to the floor as we go to break.

Tama and Kyoki are back in the ring trading offense until Talla gets the tag. Kyoki dodges the big man as he hits the ropes before sending Talla to the outside for a dive into a DDT on both MFTs. Nakamura helps Kyoki get Talla back into the ring, and a tag leads to a double team on the Taller Tongan for two. Talla sends Nakamura to the corner but a boot is evaded. Second rope knee strike gets Shinsuke a two count.

He heads to the corner for a Kinshasa, but Tama sends Kyoki to the barricade before going after Nakamura. Shinsuke fights him off before getting sent to the outside, where Haku attacks him with his walking stick and the ref calls for the bell for a presumed disqualification!

Winner: Bakusai via Disqualification.

Haku continues the attack, using the steps to drive his stick into the throat of Nakamura before the MFTs lay out Bakusai to stand tall over them.

Backstage: Kevin Owens, Finn Balor

We head backstage, where Kevin Owens addresses this arena being where he had his first official WWE match where he beat John Cena…and promises this will be here he beats Sami Zayn for the Undisputed WWE Championship. Finn Balor steps in to address Kevin getting the shot after helping Sami Zayn win the title last week. He says he’s looking for the next shot, even if it means winning Money in the Bank to get it.

Backstage: Nick Aldis, Chelsea Green, Tiffany Stratton, Danhausen, Nikki Bella

Backstage, Nick Aldis congratulates Chelsea Green on her success when he is interrupted by Danhausen, who has Nick’s phone and talks about blocking “some guy named Mickie.” The two head into his office as Green and Tiffany Stratton walk down the hall, where Tiffy talks about getting into a MITB Qualifying Match. Green loves that for Stratton as they bump into Nikki Bella, who tells the champ to keep Nikki’s name out of her mouth.

We take a look back at Saturday Night’s Main Event when Cody was unable to beat Randy Orton.

Backstage: Cody Rhodes

We head backstage to the interview as Michael Cole addresses what happened in his match against Orton. He then talks about everyone who helped him celebrate finishing his story at WrestleMania 40 has since stabbed him in the back. Cody recognizes this but says that he’s not done being QB1 because WWE is such a large team. Cole asks what happens the next time Cody sees Randy.

Cody wonders if anyone else knows something he doesn’t, saying he’s been uncompromised since his return to WWE at WrestleMania 38 and how that has helped him be so successful. He admits that the situation that happened at SNME will happen again, and when it comes he won’t make the same decision.

Backstage: Jade Cargill, B-Fab, Michin

We head elsewhere where Jade and her Amazing Baddies address what Alexa Bliss, Charlotte Flair, and Tatum Paxley had to say. Jade isn’t worried about all that as she has her sights set on becoming champion again, and her music hits as she makes her entrance for our next match. Up next she faces Alexa Bliss and Jacy Jayne in a MITB Qualifying Match!

Jade Cargill vs. Jacy Jayne vs. Alexa Bliss

Alexa goes after Jayne to no avail, as Jacy gets shoved aside by Cargill. Jacy rolls out of the ring, apparently to talk trash to the crowd before Bliss leaves the ring to pull her down to the floor! She brings Jacy back into the ring but Jade intercepts Alexa on her way back in. Jacy pulls Bliss to the outside before going after Cargill, who lands a few shots before Jayne hits a hurricanrana sending her to the ropes. Jade goes back after her and gets sent to the apron by Jacy, before Alexa sends her to the floor and attacks Jacy.

Cargill pulls Alexa to the outside before going after Jayne in the ring, catching Jacy off the ropes for a big side slam and a two count as we go to commercial.

Jayne is in control now, sending Bliss to the corner as she props her up on the turnbuckle. She goes for a superplex but in comes Cargill for a powerbomb. Huh, this spot seems familiar…anyway, Jade pins Jayne for two and covers Alexa for the same.

She sends Bliss across the ring and attacks both opponents in the corner before Jayne drives her into the ring post and to the outside. Bliss takes the opening and drops Jacy to the mat before sending her to the outside for a cannonball off the apron. She celebrates until Jade comes charging in, slamming Bliss against the apron before landing a knee to her jaw…but as she sends Alexa back into the ring she’s driven into the ring steps by Jacy! Jayne gets into the ring for a running knee on Bliss, but only gets a two count.

Alexa fights back now, setting up for Twisted Bliss from the turnbuckle before Jacy leaves the ring…and this just leads to Bliss landing a cross body on Jacy and Jade on the outside. She brings Jayne back in the ring and lands a Sister Abigail for the cover…only for Cargill to pull the ref away to stop the count! Alexa fires off some shots on Cargill, but a Sister Abigail gets countered into Jaded! Cover by Cargill, but Jacy breaks it up and sends her out before covering Bliss for the win.

Winner: Jacy Jayne via Pinfall.

Backstage: Giulia, The Irresistible Forces

We cut backstage, where Giulia is asked about her MITB Qualifying Match next week. This is interrupted by Irresistible Forces as Lash Legend looks to win and advance to Money in the Bank and look good doing so. Giulia says we’ll see how good Lash looks when she kicks her teeth out, and walks away as we move on elsewhere.

Backstage: Trick Williams, Lil Yachty, Sami Zayn

Trick Williams and Lil Yachty talk about his win tonight before bumping into Sami Zayn, revisiting their past feud as Sami demands Trick show some respect. Williams and Yachty talk some smack before walking off, and we head to commercial ahead of our main event coming up next.

After a look at the Club WWE exclusive vote for the next WWE 2K cover star, we go to a vignette with Damian Priest addressing his turn on R-Truth. He hated how much Truth kept giving out title shots while they were champs and was finished with Truth as a whole, and now he knows that Priest is a bad man.

Back at ringside, Kevin Owens makes his entrance for our main event of the night. Sami Zayn makes his way out next, and we get introductions for the challenger and champion to get this match underway…because Owens blindsides Zayn right at the opening bell!

Kevin sends Zayn to the corner for some stomps before Sami escapes the ring…but out comes Owens with a clothesline followed by a senton on the champ as we go to picture-in-picture!

Picture-in-Picture: Owens continues the attack setting Sami against the barricade, not allowing Sami to escape before sending him to the ring. Zayn tries to get away from the challenger, who stays on top of Zayn even on the outside. He brings the champ back into the ring, hoisting Sami up to drive him onto the top rope to the ribs. Sami rolls away from Owens to the apron, narrowly escaping the grasp of the challenger…but Owens follows him to the barricade for some more strikes. He brings the champ back into the ring but is blindsided by Sami, who heads to the corner for a breather as Kevin gets back to his feet. Sami gets his old pal against the ropes for more damage, layin gin some kicks for good measure as Owens gets to his feet. The two trade strikes now, with Sami being dropped to the mat as we return from break!

Owens sends the champ to the ropes, but gets hung up on the top rope by Zayn who gets back in for some more shots on his challenger. Kevin tries to fight back but takes some open handed shots from the champ before he rolls away. Sami intercepts him and sends Owens to the corner with a hammer throw, the impact forcing the challenger to the mat as Sami lays in some boots. Owens starts to fight back again before being slammed against the turnbuckle by Zayn, who follows up with a double ax handle and a cover for two.

Sami heads up top but is intercepted by Kevin on the turnbuckle. Zayn gets a rake of the eyes on his challenger for the opening, but Owens catches him with a dropkick. Senton by Owens forces the champ to head to the corner, but this just allows Kevin to land a cannonball for a nearfall. He picks Zayn up and delivers an Attitude Adjustment on his old buddy, shades of John Cena for a two count. Sami evades a Stunner and counters into a Blue Thunder Bomb for a nearfall as we go to picture-in-picture…again!

Picture-in-Picture: Owens gets to a knee against the ropes as Sami berates him while bringing him to his feet. This allows Kevin to fight back, but as he hits the ropes he gets taken down hard by the champ. He lays in some hard shots on Owens as the ref starts to admonish him, and Zayn finally relents so he can get the challenger to his feet. He sends Kevin to the corner and props him up on the turnbuckle, but the two end up fighting it out as we return from break.

Owens gets Zayn off the turnbuckle and to the mat before leaping off for a Swanton Bomb…but the champ kicks out at two to save his title reign! Out comes Johnny Gargano, who deals with the ref as Candice LeRae takes Kevin to the mat with a tornado DDT. The impact forces Owens to the corner, where Zayn hits him with a Helluva Kick and the cover…but this time it’s Owens who kicks out!

Owens is back in the corner as Sami looks for another Helluva Kick, but Kevin counters with a pop-up powerbomb and a Stunner! Cover by Owens, but Gargano gets the champ’s foot onto the bottom rope to force a break. Owens has had enough of Johnny Wrestling as he chases after Gargano, and Zayn tries to take advantage…but he gets driven through the announce table by Owens!

He brings the champ back into the ring before Gargano tries to interfere again, and he takes a Stunner for his troubles. Candice distracts the ref amid all this, and we see CM Punk come to the ring with the WWE Title…which he uses on Owens as revenge for what Kevin did last week! Sami knocks Punk off the apron with a Helluva Kick and slowly crawls over to Owens for the cover…but Kevin narrowly gets his shoulder up before the three!

There seems to be some confusion, as if there might’ve been a goof there…but that doesn’t matter as Kevin ends up being sent to the corner for a Helluva Kick before getting the win to retain.

Winner: Sami Zayn via Pinfall to retain the Undisputed WWE Championship.

There is no celebration for Sami tonight as Punk immediately goes after him with some shots, landing a GTS on the champ and on Owens before he leaves the ring to bring SmackDown to a close.
