MJF Appears & Ryohei Oiwa Accepts MJF’s Match Challenge for NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 21

Tuesday’s NJPW Power Struggle 2026 event at the Hiroshima Sun Plaza Hall in Hiroshima, Japan featured the first of two new matches set for Wrestle Kingdom 21, which takes place on January 4, 2027 at the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan.

This new match setup was a singles match of MJF vs. Ryohei Oiwa.

Following TMDK’s (Oiwa & Hartley Jackson) victory over The Swirl (Blake Christian & Lee Johnson), the lights went out interrupting their victory celebration. This led to a video being shown on the big screen featuring MJF trashing New Japan and Oiwa and issued a challenge again to Oiwa for his “Triple B” AEW World Championship. MJF continued stating that he would sweeten the deal and offered for this match to take place at Wrestle Kingdom 21. After the video ended, Oiwa responded accepting the offer and threatened MJF to never disrespect New Japan ever again.

SHO vs. YOH for IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Title With Special Stips Set for NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 21

NJPW’s Power Struggle 2026 event also featured the second of two new matches set for Wrestle Kingdom 21, which takes place on January 4, 2027 at the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan.

This new match setup was an IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship match of SHO vs. YOH (c).

This match also features two special stips of if SHO wins, then YOH must leave NJPW but if YOH wins, then SHO must leave HOUSE OF TORTURE and reunite Roppongi 3K with him.

Following YOH & Hyo’s victory over HOUSE OF TORTURE (Dick Togo & SHO), YOH informed Hyo that his stuffed myon myon cat and HoT’s stuffed black myon myon cat were now free and belong to him. YOH gave the supposed contract, which SHO claimed that the two myon myons belong to HoT, to Hyo who ripped it up and tried to eat it. YOH then told Togo that he was going to citizen arrest him for trying to steal myon myon and had him handcuffed.

As everyone left the ring, YOH still stood inside it. This led to the lights going off and a video being shown on the big screen featuring a mystery hooded person. This mystery hooded person called out SHO and issued a challenge to him for his IWGP Junior Heavyweight title. This mystery hooded person also issued a stipulation of if YOH loses, then he would have to leave NJPW. After the lights came back on, this mystery hooded person showed up and attempted to attack YOH only to get low blowed instead. YOH proceeded to unmask the mystery person revealing him to be SHO. YOH told SHO that he accepted his challenge for the title and added an extra stipulation of if SHO loses, then he has to leave HoT and to team up with him as Roppongi 3K again.

Current card for NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 21:

  • IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship – SHO vs. YOH (c)
  • MJF vs. Ryohei Oiwa

Shingo Takagi Issues Challenge To Jon Moxley for NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 21

NJPW’s Power Struggle 2026 also featured one new potential match for the card of Wrestle Kingdom 21.

This new potential match is a singles match of Shingo Takagi vs. Jon Moxley.

This new match was initially setup over recent NJPW shows over Takagi’s bad blood issues with Moxley and the Death Riders. Following Unbound Co.’s (Shingo Takagi & Jeff Cobb) victory over the Death Riders (Jon Moxley & Wheeler Yuta) in a tag team match, Moxley attacked Cobb leading to Takagi getting into a brief scuffle with Moxley in return. After Moxley escaped out of the ring, Takagi grabbed Yuta and hit him with his own version of the Death Rider. This led to an upset reaction by Moxley and Takagi grabbing a microphone issuing a challenge to Moxley for Wrestle Kingdom 21.
