In an update on the statement by WWE earlier today stating that John Cena suffered an injury to his “right Achilles tendon” during the recent European tour, it appears Cena first suffered the injury at the 4/21 event in Geneva, Switzerland. Cena continued working live events after that show, but instead in six man tag team matches instead of singles matches against Ryback. This obviously lessened his workload. How serious the injury is still remains to be seen but it is the real deal and not a work. Along with CM Punk, John Cena has been “banged up” for awhile now. A John Cena injury is obviously the last thing the company needs right now with CM Punk taking a break to heal his nagging injuries.
With the WWE crew returning to the United States last night, Cena is expected to get checked out this coming week, possibly as early as tomorrow before RAW. WWE will have a better idea of how serious the injury is once MRI’s are performed. We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
As noted earlier here on the website, Cena did send out the following tweet on Sunday confirming his status for RAW tomorrow.
Finally home from a great European tour. I’m banged up, but I’m not going to miss Monday Night #Raw.
