— According to Variety, the WWE Studios/Troika Pictures-produced film The Call was the three billionth movie rented from Redbox. The movie was rented in July from a kiosk in Littleton, Colorado. Redbox now accounts for 50% of the DVD rental market.
— WWE and Full Sail University co-hosted a competition wherein eight teams of eight students each took part in a forty-eight hour challenge to design and create the prototype for a new WWE video game. The “hackathon” was to create an action game for ages seven and up that is compatible with both smart phones and tablets, with the winning team earning $5,000 and consideration of their design by WWE for development into a full-fledged game.
Full Sail University also hosts WWE’s NXT tapings.
