According to WWE sources, former WCW and nWo star Masahiro Chono has signed a deal with WWE that will allow him to sell “nWo” t-shirts overseas in Japan.
When WWE bought WCW, they also bought the rights to the nWo which prohibits anyone from making a profit off the name and logo. Chono and Keiji Muto were the leaders of nWo Japan in the late 90’s and apparently sold close to 400,000 t-shirts during that time.
Chono has been negotiating with WWE for awhile now as he thinks it’s the right time to bring the merchandise back for “nostalgia” purposes. As of now, the t-shirts are expected to feature the 90’s nWo Japan logo as well as the WWE logo. There is likely some sort of profit split between the two. We hope to have more on this shortly.
