As reported over the weekend, Michael Elgin losing the ROH Title at All-Star Extravaganza was a last-minute decision. A big part of that had to do with his work visa issues, which have him currently stuck in Canada. However, a source says that there were several other issues as well. As we’d said earlier, the company wasn’t pleased that Elgin was booked to lose in the PWG Battle of Los Angeles tournament, which didn’t protect the ROH Title, and they had some other issues with his handling of independent bookings.
The interview Elgin did where he said he wanted to try out for Major League Baseball is believed to have been the final straw for him. He was already likely to drop the belt at Final Battle, but the decision was made to do the last-minute title switch. While ROH has issues with Elgin, they are still working to help bring him back from Canada as soon as possible.
Basically, the company doesn’t view him as a solid, long-term “company man” with his recent comments/issues and took the title off of him due of it.
