A Live Report From Last Night’s WWE RAW Broadcast

The arena was pretty full. They had half of the top area covered off but the rest of the arena was full. We were definitely in Flair country. Lots of “Whoooos” throughout the night.

I’ll preface with this… I’ve been a WWE fan for over 20 years. I’ve been to three house shows and one Smackdown about ten years ago. I had never been to a Monday Night Raw. I was excited to say the least.

The show started off with three or four Slammy award categories (on the WWE network)… I didn’t mind this and it was a cool way to start everything off.

Then we got into the show… Dolph Ziggler and Seth Rollins started it off and the crowd was hot for the matchup. Very pro Dolph (He was very over) A good match with a predictable finish.

Then the lull started in… We would get a Slammy award, then a commercial, then a wrestler entrance, then another commercial. I was so drained by the end of the night that I barely could enjoy the end of the show. I don’t know how it came across on TV… but it felt like every five minutes we went to commercial. It was almost comical because it really felt like we couldn’t get two wrestler intros in a row without going to commercial.

A funny thing. I always wondered when I saw a wrestler make his entrance and then they cut to a commercial whether If they kept the music on the whole time in the arena. Because when you get back from the break the music is always playing. Well, they play the music, then they will dim the lights and show a WWE network commercial or something like that. When its time to come back, the lights come back on and the music starts right where it left off. I found that interesting.

There was barely any wrestling in a four-hour show. The crowd stayed hot for most of the matches even up till the end because it felt like we were deprived of it. The Slammy concept would be great for a network exclusive, but I thought it sucked ass live. I was so pissed around 10:30 that I wanted to leave, even though I knew Ambrose was the dark main event.

Charlotte made her debut! She came out like a heel but the crowd was HOT for her. WOOOOOO’s filled the arena. What does WWE do? They have her lose to “Total Diva” Natty. That was head scratching.

The best match by far was the six-man tag. The crowd was eating this match up. Mizdow is OVER… The crowd absolutely loves the guy in his knew role. All the wrestlers were laughing at his antics except for Kane. He played his part well. The Big Guy was over as well. Not many chants throughout the night but the crowd enjoyed chanting “Feed Me More”.

The later matches were entirely too short.

The Bray Wyatt and Ambrose segment was cool and Ambrose is majorly over. Reigns as Superstar of the year? LOL.

The ending segment was fun to watch and got me a in a better mood. And then after the cameras went off. Bray came down and challenged Ambrose to settle the score before TLC. He obliged. So Ambrose beat down Bray for a little bit before he ran off. They sent the crowd home “happy.”

Overall, I was very disappointed. My first Raw and the Slammys really ruined the night for me. Slammys and commercial breaks. It was just ridiculous. The Slammy Award show needs to be a WWE network exclusive.

The show was devoid of talent. No Daniel Bryan, no Randy Orton, no Triple H, no Brock Lesnar (he was advertised until weeks ago). It just feels that outside John Cena, there weren’t any real “superstars.”

For those that think John Cena is losing fans? Think again. That arena went nuts when anything Cena came on the screen. I had a little girl literally in tears when he got “KO’d” by the Big Show.

The freaking commercials… the crowd was actually GROWNING when we’d get four minutes of content then another “break.”
