Joe Hendry Comments on Negative Fan Reaction To His & Danhausen Concert Segment at July 27 WWE RAW Show

The July 27th episode of WWE RAW in Los Angeles, California featured a concert segment involving Joe Hendry and Danhausen that turned into a brawl involving Judgement Day’s JD McDonagh and Dominik Mysterio and Zuffa boxer Ryan Garcia. This segment was notable for the very negative reception from fans over the poor quality of the segment and for involving Garcia who has a history of making very controversial and bigoted statements.

A recent episode of the Cheap Heat with Peter Rosenberg podcast featured Hendry as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Hendry’s thoughts about his concert segment with Danhausen and angle with Judgement Day and Garcia.

“My thoughts were this — and I’ll just be completely upfront and honest about this. We are all extremely passionate about what we do, and just to give you an idea here, when I signed with WWE, I made the decision that I was going to move to Orlando. I was going to not only commit 100 percent to NXT but I was gonna move to Orlando, I was gonna go to the classes, I was gonna absorb as much knowledge as I could. I said, ‘Put me on all the local shows.’ I wanted to work all the shows that they do to contribute, to learn and to be a part of the system and that is the attitude I’ve taken to WWE and the reason I bring that up is because us as performers and everybody that works at the company, we are so passionate about (it), and the goal is and always has been, for me, to give the audience value. There’s been times when I’ve been on the indies and I’ve made a music video making fun of my opponent. I remember there’s one in Germany and there was like 300 people and I’m like, ‘Man, I hope this joke lands’ and I’m behind the curtain like, ‘Come on!’ You want it to land and it’s the best feeling in the world when you give the audience that moment, that laugh, and so I’ll say this: We give absolutely everything that we’ve got. I give my absolute best efforts and we’re gonna try a lot of things, and some things are gonna land and some things won’t but we will always give our best efforts.”

Hendry also gave his thoughts about the negative reaction from fans towards the segment.

“I feel the fans have put me in this position. We talked about WrestleMania; that was because of the fan reaction, and WrestleMania probably happened because of the reaction that I got at the Royal Rumble, and the Royal Rumble probably happened because reactions that I was getting with everything I was doing up to that point so the fans have been there for me and they’ve put me in this position. So, I want to give them my absolute best.”

Chelsea Green Defends Michael Hayes Comments About Her & His Reaction To Her Interim WWE Women’s Title Win

As noted before, this past Sunday’s WWE SummerSlam 2026 Night 2 event in Minneapolis, Minnesota featured Chelsea Green becoming the new Interim WWE Women’s Champion. Following her victory, Green dedicated her win to Michael Hayes in reference to negative comments he made about her star status in WWE and lack of faith in her becoming a top star in the company on the WWE: Unreal docuseries.

CBS Sports held a recent interview with Green. One of the topics discussed included Green’s thoughts about how Hayes has supported her since she returned to WWE.

“That clip on ‘Unreal’ is part of why I’m sitting here with this title on my shoulder right now. But I want to make sure everyone knows Michael Hayes has supported me since the minute I got to WWE. He’s the only person that is so blatantly honest, so blunt that he always, always provides the truth, whether I want to hear it or not.”

Green also gave her thoughts about Hayes’ reaction when she had texted him about her title victory and defended his comments about how at the end of the day, what he said about her was right.

“He can dish it, but he can also take it. I sent him a text this morning, ‘Have you seen that I dedicated the title to you?’ He loved it. He was laughing. He is such a good sport, and I wish that what he said wasn’t cropped and edited to make it seem like that’s all he said because I know in my heart that he probably had a million kind things to say about me. At the end of the day, what he said was the truth. It was the truth in that moment. It was his truth. It was creative’s truth. It might have been Triple H’s truth; I don’t know. I’m totally glad he said it. No regrets.”
