The Rock was on NBC’s Today this morning to promote San Andreas. He said the goal of the movie was to re-define natural disaster films and have it focused on a family so the audience will care. He said he was lucky to play the role of a first responder. One of the coolest things about the character is that he is very good at what he does but is struggling in his personal life with his wife and daughter. He said that there was crying on camera and it was “a bit easy” because he knew what it was like to be a divorced dad. He put himself in the mindset of losing and never seeing his daughter again.
He also spoke about the cover of Men’s Health magazine. He likes to do cardio in the morning with music blasting to get him through his 12-14 hour days. He said he got calls about his music from his hotel’s manager today.
Finally, he talked about his movie with Kevin Hart, Central Intelligence, which is filming in Boston.
