Ed Ferrera, who wrote alongside Vince Russo for WWE, WCW and TNA, recently spoke out in a new interview. Check out the highlights:
On Ric Flair & Vince Russo talking about WCW’s end: “It was very refreshing to hear to hear Flair, who was given the opportunity to bury Russo, as so many people have done before then. Before now. Not. And to basically admit what it was. We’ve said it countless times, or I’ve said it countless times, what we didn’t know when signed on to come in to WCW was that the Titanic had already hit the iceberg and was taking on water. But nobody smartened us up to that until it was way too late. The atmosphere we walked in to, we thought we were walking in to a nightmare but we had no idea how extensive the damage had already been done.”
On if he feels a similar vibe now to when WCW ended: “I’ve had that vibe for awhile. The end of days in WCW, don’t forget, that was all behind the scenes. Eric Bischoff was frantically negotiating for the purchase of this company and he had his backers and that purchase was going to go through, as far as anybody knew. But, when that fell through and Red Seigel and Turner announced, “Well, that going forward on Turner Networks there will be no place for wrestling programming,” and then that went away. It was just I had the same feeling in my stomach that I probably would have now if I was working for TNA.”
