Prior to yesterday’s tweet, WWE recently wished Shelton a happy birthday on their official Instagram page which fueled online speculation of a deal likely being signed between both sides.
WWE originally had plans for Shelton Benjamin to make his return for the Smackdown brand as part of last year’s draft before scrapping both it and a contract offer. Benjamin later revealed the reason for this was due to a shoulder injury he suffered in Japan at the time and WWE only finding out from the results of a required medical physical he took.
