Top indie star Shane Strickland is possibly headed to NXT in January. That’s the belief among several sources that spoke to PWInsider. WWE is expected to announce several new signings to NXT in January. It was also reported in August that Strickland was someone who WWE was interested in signing.
Strickland will also reportedly be done with Major League Wrestling next month, according to PWInsider. His last scheduled appearance for them will be their TV tapings in Miami on December 13 and 14. Strickland is a former MLW Heavyweight Champion. At the Chicago MLW TV tapings last week, Strickland lost his match then cut a storyline promo saying he was tired of being screwed by MLW founder Court Bauer, then appeared to threaten to quit the promotion before his mic was “cut.”
Strickland also wrestles for EVOLVE and his time there also appears to be winding down. He just dropped the EVOLVE Championship to Fabian Aichner a couple of weeks ago, then lost to Kassius Ohno last week.
He’s also a former CZW Champion and wrestles in Lucha Underground as Killshot.
