In-Ring: Johnny Gargano, Tommaso Ciampa

Johnny says this has been a pretty interesting past couple of weeks. Not only has he shown the WWE Universe what NXT is all about as one of the newest members of Raw and Smackdown, but last Wednesday he had one of the toughest matches of his career against Velveteen Dream. After winning the North American Championship, he said that Johnny Wrestling was back. He was back. He was on top of the world. We climbed to the top of the mountain together and we showed everyone Johnny Champion. When he had his first test, he failed. Johnny says he failed himself and he failed all of you. He says he likes when you chant Johnny Champion a little more. He still feels like a champion but the harsh reality is that he does not have a championship. Johnny says he has realized the only reason he had any success around here . . .

Johnny is interrupted by NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa. Tommaso says this is about them. Over the last week and a half, we learned that Johnny Gargano is at his best with Tommaso Ciampa in his life. When we are together on Raw, we win. When we are together on Smackdown, we win. When we step into that ring together, the outcome is determined. We win. Last week, when you had to defend your title against Velveteen Dream and he offered to help, but you decided to go at it alone. You lost.

Ciampa says it does not have to be a bad thing. It took you a year and a half but you finally realized that WE need each other. This is destiny. Now, he is standing here holding the NXT Title and you are not holding a title. Tommaso says we know it doesn’t have to be that way. Last week, they announced the return of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. Think about it Johnny. That is where this all began. They have been through a lot together. The Dusty Classic is where this all started. This year, the winner of that tournament gets a tag title match at Takeover in New York. The big stage and bright lights, where they do their best work. That is when they can have their moment. Takeover New York can end the same way as Takeover Phoenix. If we are on the same page, Takeover New York ends with them side by side and champions.

Ciampa offers his hand and Johnny thinks about it and he shakes Ciampa’s hand.
