Various: AEW TV Deal Update, Sasha Banks Update, Indies

AEW Television Deal Update

As noted before, All Elite Wrestling is rumored to be in “advanced talks” with Warner Media in regards to a potential television deal for a weekly show on either TNT or TBS.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the day of the week for the show seemed to be a lock a few weeks ago, but is now up in the air. Meltzer has previously said that if the show ends up on TNT, it would likely not air on Tuesdays as rumored since TNT has a deal to air the NBA on Tuesday nights.

Meltzer also reported that one of the reasons why the TV deal has taken so long to announce is that there are multiple bidders.

Also, the company still has plans for the show to be two hours in length and air live weekly.

Another Sasha Banks WWE Status Update

As noted before, Sasha Banks reportedly requested her release from WWE during WrestleMania weekend due to frustrations of feeling misled by WWE regarding her Women’s Tag Team Championship reign with Bayley and due to WWE also informing her that the team would be split up.

Dave Meltzer reported that Banks is tentatively still booked for the Money in the Bank PPV on May 19, so WWE is hopeful that she’ll be back before then. She was given a couple of weeks off to rethink her release request.
