Drew McIntyre Comments on His Royal Rumble Victory

Following this past Sunday’s Royal Rumble event in Houston, Texas, WWE held an interview with Drew McIntyre discussing his thoughts on winning this year’s Men’s Royal Rumble match.

“I can’t find the words. There’s literally no words. The past 18 years, the past 12 years in America. Every up, every down, every single second was worth it for that moment. I threw Roman out and I heard 40,000 people react the way they reacted. I’m going to WrestleMania. The person that came to mind was my wife. You don’t really think about it when you’re on the road but we’re away from our family all the time and they endure as much as we endure when we’re on the road and we give so much of ourselves to the fans and we give it willingly, this is our dream. They’re the ones holding the fort at home. This one is for her. I’m going to WrestleMania.”

Bleacher Report held a recent interview with McIntyre and one of the topics discussed included when McIntyre found out he was winning the Men’s Royal Rumble match.

“I didn’t know anything yesterday. I’m talking about today late. I’ve learned through my experience just to go with the flow. And when you get information, you take it and you perform it to the best of your ability. That’s why I always say sports entertainers, wrestlers, don’t get the credit we deserve. You got to be thinking on your feet, you’ve got to be ready to improve, and you’re doing your own stunts. You’ve got to pull the emotions of the crowd in the direction you want them to go. And there is no business like this. We literally think on our feet.”

More on Sasha Banks’ Absence from Royal Rumble

As noted before, WWE originally planned for Sasha Banks to be among the competitors for the Women’s Royal Rumble match at this past Sunday’s Royal Rumble event. Those plans were scrapped and Kelly Kelly was later revealed to have been Banks replacement for the match.

Both Post Wrestling’s John Pollock and Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp reported that their sources stated that the reason for Banks’ absence was due to her currently suffering from an undisclosed injury, which occurred earlier this month, and she has yet to be medically cleared for an in-ring return.

More on Riddick Moss’ Main Roster Call-up

Riddick Moss made his official main roster debut during this Monday’s episode of WWE RAW in San Antonio, Texas. Moss appeared alongside Mojo Rawley, who revealed that he had brought in Moss to be his “offensive lineman” for his 24/7 Championship.

Dave Meltzer reported in a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio that the reason for Moss’ main roster call-up was due to him not falling under the same current restrictions as NXT’s television talent. These new restrictions were put in place around the time of NXT’s move to USA Network and basically do not allow prominent members of NXT’s television talent to appear on main roster shows unless given approval by NXT management and can only be for temporary appearances.

In regards to Moss’ current contract status, Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp reported that Moss’ NXT contract was set to expire soon and he had recently signed a new extension.
