On last night’s episode of AEW Dark, AEW did an angle where Nightmare Collective members Mel and Luther turned on their stablemate Awesome Kong. After Mel lost a match to Hikaru Shida, Awesome Kong started to shove Mel around, but Mel then attacked her, with help from Luther, tossing her into the crowd barricade and into the ring post and steps.
AEW tweeted, “Kong suffered serious injuries at the hands of Mel & Luther. We do not know when or if she will return to action.”

The injury is a storyline and is likely a way to write Kong off of AEW TV for now because she is going to be shooting the upcoming fourth season of Netflix’s GLOW next month, where she plays the role of Tammé “The Welfare Queen” Dawson.
